PROCESSION
Sicily. 2017 - 2019
In Sicily a few times a year huge statues wandered the streets of Palermo accompanied by hundreds of faithful people and sounds of orchestra. That way the inhabitants of Palermo honour their Saints pulled the statues from the churches through the streets of the city, some of them are about 10 meters high. The platforms leads the procession through the main streets hailed by the crowd. Most of the processions are very theatrical, rich of colourful costumes and makes those religious ceremonies are very beautiful. Those days most streets filled by smell of roasted chestnut are decorated with dozens of thousands of colourful lights fitted on beautiful wooden arches above the streets. The concerts, fireworks and sweets stalls with children playing around with balloons and plastic toys celebrate the Saints in a more profane way.
